The crankshaft is usually mounted on the cylinder block by a bearing
and a piece called a “bearing sleeve” adjusts the clearance or longitudinal slack of the crankshaft. The crankshaft clearance in the bearing is less than a tenth of a millimetre. The crankshaft has fixed and movable cranks or connecting points, fixed cranks are closed by fixed bearings on the cylinder block and have only rotational movement, that’s how they got their name. The movable cranks, which in addition to the rotary movement, have a rotational movement, are connected to the connecting rod by a movable bearing. The connecting rod is connected to the piston through the gudgeon pin and this way the reciprocating movement of the piston, which is called the stroke of the piston, becomes a rotary movement.

The camshaft is power by a chain; the belt or gear takes connected to the crankshaft. In a four-stroke engine the camshaft rotates at half the engine speed, while in a two-stroke engine, it rotates at the same speed as the engine.
The engine bushing functions to create a suitable space for combustion and to separate the combustion chamber from the engine body or cylinder. In diesel engines with a water-cooling system, the outer surface of the engine bushing is in constant contact with the engine coolant. Therefore, the quality of the engine bushing is very important for resistance to erosion by the coolant and to the thermal stresses of the combustion chamber.
